Lechon Roll from Kim's Kitchen

Again, my sister can be very unique with her cooking style. Surprisingly because she seldom cooks when she's around but when she does, she nails something very out of this world like this version of Lechon Roll. I asked her the recipe and she said "YOUTUBE"! :D ok so there I went and this is what I found. How to make Lechon. Not bad for a starter with big dreams in the kitchen eh?!

mmmmm... the smell of lemon grass :D

Ingredients:

Pork Belly
Lemon Grass
Minced Garlic
Salt
Pepper

Rub lemon grass, minced garlic, salt and pepper on the slab of pork
Get another stem of lemon grass and tie it to a knot
Place it in the middle of the pork belly
Roll the pork tight and secure it with a cooking twine
Place it in oven at 400deg. F or use a turbo broiler instead
Cook for 3 hours or until the skin is crispy and golden brown.. Whoala! there you go..

Make a Clubhouse Sandwich a staple food

My sister has a unique way of spicing things up with her own style of food preparation. This is one of her unique way of making a special sandwich on New Years eve. I say unique cause really, we don't normally do this at home. I grab two slices of bread, smear it with peanut butter and I'm good to go, but on this specific day, my sister made us a special clubhouse sandwich.

It's simple to do and a bit of tomato, fried bacon, lettuce, ham and mayonnaise will do just like what she did here. You can also use wheat bread if that's what you prefer. As for this, we opted for the regular ones.

Of course there are other versions of this such as what you see on the Food Network and CountryLiving, what's most imprtant is you're able to bring out something to your taste.

You got served..

When a friend left for a weekend getaway, I asked her to take photos. Photos of everything! The fun, the place, the sun, the heat the fire dancers and all. What I didn't expect is a photo of total contrast, somewhat beaten out of context and I realized, yes having fun is not about putting place in order but being carefree and enjoying what's served... and by that, I meant this.. A FRUITSHAKE IN AN ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGE GLASS :) mmmm I'm tempted.

So what fills your summer?

Pork Adobo on a lazy Sunday

From mom's cooking, and take note she's a really good cook, we don't normally put potatoes in our pork adobo recipe but recently, I was introduced with it and the outcome? one yummy pork adobo for lunch, combined with.. potato :D. Sarap!

Pork Adobo is almost a staple item of food in every household and mostly during the weekends... Other regions have a different version of this also, I chose to stick to its simplest form :) not bad for a start.

I was watching the TV program Salamat Dok last Sunday when I came across their featured recipe - something cheap, simple but healthy so I thought why not?

Ingredients:

2 bundles Spinach
4 pcs. Tomatoes (medium size)
1 pc Onion (medium size)
1tsp Cooking oil
Salt to taste

How to Cook:

  • Remove the Spinach leaves from their stalk and wash thoroughly.
  • Cut the onions and tomatoes lengthwise and dribble the tomatoes with salt and seasoning of your choice
  • Saute the onion and tomatoes (make sure not t overcook them)
  • Add the Spinach and cover for few seconds.
  • Serve
Benefits:

Spinach is known to be very low in calories, and since it’s low on calories, diabetic people take advantage of this as they tend to eat healthy but with minimal weight gain. Spinach also help improve your sugar level thus eliminating the occurrence of high blood pressure and cholesterol.

Let's talk about it over Chicken

Every now and then, and whenever things are better, why not treat yourself with the best form possible - Yes! Dine out :D
Sometimes, a simple meal accompanied by your bestie takes the stress away, and what's good about it is that you don't have to spend much just so you can get the best out of it.
Dining at Savory, I was really surprised at how cheap their price for 2 is. It was more than what we bargained for.

For a change, we skipped the sodas and went for some Four Seasons
