Beautiful, vibrantly colored salads are like gallery prints on canvas. They are definitely a work of art.
Luckily for us, you don’t have to be a master chef. Making a spring salad is not difficult as long as you have the appropriate ingredients on hand. Like making personalized mugs for your friends, a salad of crisp greens tossed with peas, asparagus and any vegetable you like can be customized to your individual tastes and cravings.

Here are a few spring salads that really get the award for mouth watering:
· For a quick meal in under 30 minutes, try this rhubarb salad with goat cheese. Who doesn’t love the sweetness of honey roasted rhubarb with toasted walnuts, crisp greens, goat cheese and drizzled with a light vinaigrette. It screams spring!
· If you love asparagus, try this asparagus salad topped with poached eggs. The roasted asparagus is what really sets this salad apart. Getting together with friends over the weekend? This is a perfect meal for a Sunday brunch with that wow factor.

Sushi?

I was at the mall when I decided to buy me some sushi to try. It was my first time so I wasn't sure if it would be an experience to try again or not. I ended up giving it to someone else after two bites. I love vinegar and sweets but the combination it had on this one didn't quite agree with my taste. Maybe some other sushi... better luck next time. :D

Although I saw online some of its recipes and they were quite good, somehow, it just wasn't right when I bought this. Maybe I should try preparing one myself, it could taste different.. You know how it is with newbie cooks, they sometimes end up on a different note yet getting the best of it :D Wish me Luck!

And since it's dinner you're deciding to prepare, it has to be quick and easy. Yesterday, I found my comfort food for the day, no more cooking, but you get the best out of hot and spicy dinner :)

More like "Rice in a box"

Haven't seen these in a long time..

Seeing these seemingly homemade donuts, I felt a sense of Déjà vu as my mom usually makes them when we were young.. I remember helping her shape them in different shapes and sizes, creating human figures, flowers, plain circles and flat donuts.

Deep Fried, it's fun watching them float one by one and sprinkling them with sugar after.. and it's SUGAR GLAZED :D

The Coveted Coffee Press!

Nothing really beats freshly brewed, strong and aromatic coffee on a nice quiet morning. Even if you're not a coffee enthusiast, you will love how it perks your taste buds and its refreshing after taste. So why not go for the one thing that could make this luxury possible every single morning, and so maybe, just maybe the ever trusted and efficient coffee press can do some divine intervention :D - so again, a trusted friend, yes... the same friend who gave me this searched high and low to find me this certain coffee press that I've been talking about for months now..

and so the next challenge would be to find the next best coffee grinds aside from what's already in store ;)

Sinigang na Baboy

Last Sunday, I took the luxury of cooking Sinigang na Baboy for lunch. I seldom do this as there aren't many people at home to share it with, but still, after wrestling with tons of laundry and house cleaning, I awarded myself with some mean sinigang for lunch..

I might have over cooked the veggies but it's the way I wanted it.

Tokwa't Bangus

There are things you'll never cook on your own, and there are those you discover and think.. why not? I was visiting the PurposeDrivenChef website and scanning through, when I found this interesting recipe that combined Tokwa (Tofu) and boneless bangus (milkfish), both interesting to my taste so I thought of giving it a go, here is how it went... You can find the recipe here.

For easy recipes, you can check the PurposeDrivenChef website, you'll find it glamorous and a bit intimidating to try but once you really put in mind what's detailed on a certain dish, you can't stop, like what I did last time with this recipe.

Missed Breakfast? No problem!

Most of us miss breakfast despite its importance in our daily activities. Some of us leave for office with just coffee alone, and some.. like me don't take anything. Not even coffee. I usually have my breakfast in the office but that's on certain occasions and if I feel like it, but last Friday, I discovered me some quick food that literally maintained my energy until around 11:30am. Whoala! Try it :D (not recommended to those who follow strict diet). COOK-IES!

That coffee cup is literally small, like half of the regular cup we normally use to drink coffee. I feel better consuming just about enough caffeine for the day.

Here.... have some :)

Be your own Barista

Some people are coffee aficionados. It's been part of their lives - it's a part of their system. Through the years, the evolution of coffee had accelerated in series of concoction that one might not know what is the difference between coffee, cocoa and a black coffee topped with a weird white cream on top. wow! can't we just settle on freshly brewed black coffee?
Who knew coffee can be served iced, and when did tall become the smallest of sizes? Now you know what I'm talking about, Starbucks.

A newbie like myself can enter Starbucks and not know what to get. I myself didn't know what to order when I actually wanted it hot and was served cold with  cream on it (have mercy!)

Did you know that Starbucks provide coffee packs that you can buy and learn how to brew at home instead of buying a single serve on a price not less than what you're willing to spend? there i said it. (I insist on Starbucks because honestly speaking, they serve GREAT coffee). This way, you can experiment your own "coffee a la myself", then you can learn how to brew your own coffee. Get their special packs of coffee granules and mix and match your own concoction of honey, sugar or any sweetener that compliments your tastes. If you want to top it with a complete Starbucks moment -

buy their special edition mugs and use it at home. What a way to bring Starbucks at the convenience of your home.

Goodluck! :D

Tempura Japanese Grill - Personal bout with Chopsticks

A well spent, fruitful Saturday definitely deserved something different.. So we opted to try this restaurant. I don't eat with chopsticks. I tried.. and tried.. but the chopsticks loved someone else.. so I end up finishing my food with spoon and fork. I wish I was a chef or a certified food critic so I can give fair justice on their food but really, I can't seem to put them in words.. Overall though.. It was good.
